Let’s Talk Game of Thrones & Prepare For Next Week’s Finale

maxresdefaultHello, everyone! My website and blog are revamped clad with a new look and my portfolio. I thought it was only fitting that my first post be about none other than the number one pop culture phenomenon that has been consuming me: Game of Thrones.

CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD.

I’m currently laying on my couch on my day off from work, basking in the air conditioning rewatching that insane, bloody, satisfying, crazy, episode again.

The episode was so jam packed, I need to just vent for a second. Did anyone else think that Kit Harington looked even hotter, if that is even possible, when covered with blood, sweat, and dirt? Is that weird? Did anyone else feel bad for the horses? Does this mean we have to like Littlefinger now because he basically saved Jon’s booty? I literally screamed at the television (and my dad) when the Vale came all chanting and slo-mo. Did anyone else feel like they couldn’t breathe when Jon was suffocating under the bodies and was trying to get out? Ahh YASSS so many badass female moments from Sansa, Yara, and of course the Beyoncé of Westeros and IMO the rightful heir to the throne, Daenerys. Also, I thought there wasn’t a character I hated more than Joffrey Baratheon, that changed with Ramsey Bolton.  After sending the hounds on a baby, raping Sansa, cutting off Theon’s manhood, murdering his father, killing poor Rickon (RIP) and shooting an arrow at the poor giant (RIP), I was truly overjoyed to see Bolton get his ass kicked by Jon and getting mauled to death by the hounds.

Did you know this scene cost $10 million dollars to film? Some of the battle scenes were inspired from the American Civil War.

Amidst my random mumbo jumbo, it goes without saying that last night’s episode, “The Battle of the Bastards” was one of the best episodes in Thrones history.

But, I think the finale is going to be even better.  I agree with the many fans, writers, and GoT enthusiasts out there, the finale will (fingers crossed) finally bring light to some theories that have been circulating and building throughout the books and seasons. The episode is called “The Winds of Winter” a knack to the sixth and upcoming book in the series. Here are a few things many people could possibly happen:

Cersei Will Become The “Mad Queen”

At this point, Cersei is in a really bad situation.  She’s about to have her trial and be judged by the High Sparrow and the Septons.  If you recall, trial by combat is now abolished (thanks to her son, King Tommen) so she can’t use The Mountain.  So Cersei doesn’t really have any moves left, besides the wildfire hiding under King’s Landing.  The same wildfire that the “Mad King” Aeyrs Targaryen was going to use on the entire city (“BURN THEM ALL!”), before Jamie came and killed him, gaining his nickname as Kingslayer. In this last episode, Tyrion explains the wildfire to Daneyrus, suggesting it as another hint to Cersei using the fire to burn down the kingdom.

Freys and Lannisters Might Have An Alliance No More

From the preview, it seems that Jamie is not super amused by Walder Frey’s toast. Now that he took Riverrun for them, the Frey’s now have ownership over the former turf of the Tully’s.  However, Jamie is out for vengeance.  Some speculate that Arya is actually using Jamie’s face, because as we all now Arya is coming back to Westeros to get her revenge.

Ser Davos Will Confront Melisandre

Davos will confront Melisandre about burning Princess Sheeren to the ground.  What will Jon say? Will they banish Melisandre? Can you banish someone like her? Will her hidden old-lady be exposed?

R+L=J Theory

This is probably my favorite theory in all of the Game of Thrones world. In a nutshell, the R+L=J theory is the truth behind Jon Snow’s heritage.  He is known as Ned Stark’s bastard’s son and for all Snow knows that’s the truth.  The theory however, suggests differently. The theory is that Jon Snow’s parents are Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Rhaegar is Daeneyrs’ brother who died before the show began. Similarily, Lyanna is Ned Stark’s sister, who also is deceased before the series started.  Remember from the first episode when Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark go down to the crypts of Winterfell to look at Lyanna’s statue? That’s because Robert was deeply in love with Lyanna and he believed that Rhaegar took her captive and raped her. So he murdered him. However, the theory states what actually happened is that Rhaegar and Lyanna were in love and had Jon.  Lyanna was said to have died during childbirth.  Now here is where the theory gets even more exciting.  If the theory is true that would make Jon Snow part Targaryen and part Stark, and Dany would be Jon’s aunt.  The series and this season specifically has brought multiple signs that this will happen.  In one of Bran’s visions, you see Ned outside the Tower of Joy, where Lyanna is presumed to be inside.  Another vision, showed a woman bleeding.  This is rumored to be Lyanna after her childbirth. It all makes sense, Jon and Daeneyrs are the depictions of A Song of Ice and Fire.  This photo (below) which surfaced after Sunday’s episode, prove the comparisons of their storylines.  It only is logical that they are related. And I love it because they are my favorite characters. house-of-starks-5-easter-eggs-and-deja-vu-moments-in-this-week-s-game-of-thrones-1026919

I guess we will have to wait until Sunday to find out.
